Distinct Therapeutics, Inc. is a psychospiritual psychotherapy practice founded by Rosemary De Faria, L.C.S.W. in 1996. Using both traditional and alternative therapies is something that makes this practice unique.
Because we are so diverse as individuals, we do not always need the same things. At Distinct Therapeutics, the client can choose to start with traditional therapy and then incorporate some alternative techniques as well.
Rosemary believes there is benefit to all therapies and wants to make a large spectrum available to her clients. Here is the philosophy she brings to Distinct Therapeutics:
It is a blessing to do the work one loves. I believe in the process of psychotherapy and have been fortunate enough to witness tremendous healing in working with my wonderful and courageous clients.
My philosophy in doing the work I feel so passionately about is that therapy is a gift you give to yourself. It is not easy and requires hard work. However, if you make a commitment and are willing to be present with whatever issues you are facing, the results will be well worth the effort. It is an investment in you and the dividends are endless. Once one truly commits to doing this work, miracles happen. It fills me with awe to see what the human spirit can achieve.
Although I continue to work on myself and the skills I use in my practice, I also hold the philosophy that the most important ingredient in therapy is the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. It is this connection which is based on trust and which grows stronger over time that is the foundation of any work we will do together. I will hold this relationship in the highest regard and say in advance that I take this bond seriously. I am honored to be chosen by my clients to do this most powerful work and am aware of the sacred trust it involves.
Many think that it is a flaw or sign of weakness to go to therapy. I believe it is a sign of intelligence and great strength. Smart people choose therapy in order to learn, to heal, to grow and when the process is complete, they come away whole, happy and able to be more of who they came here to be. They come away empowered and in their power. They come away able to be with their feelings instead of running from them.
You will not be alone on this path. I will be with you every step of the way; through the terror, fear and grief. Whatever comes up, I will be there. I am completely invested in your healing journey and will provide a safe environment for you. Together we will choose the treatment options that best suit your needs.
